Sumak Brings Turkish Flair to Normandy Isles.
I had the pleasure of dining at Sumak a few times, our neighborhood’s not so hidden gem, and it’s safe to say—this place is a five-star standout.
From the moment you walk in, the warm hospitality makes you feel like you're a guest in someone’s home rather than a restaurant. The menu is a celebration of authentic Turkish cuisine, with each dish crafted from classic Aegean, Mediterranean, and Ottoman recipes. The lamb köfte was a standout—juicy, perfectly spiced, and grilled over their wood charcoal fire for that incredible smoky flavor. I also loved the stuffed cracked-wheat meatballs—comforting and full of character.
For something shareable, don’t skip the mezze platter, which pairs beautifully with their curated selection of Mediterranean wines. And if you’re looking to elevate the evening, try the Turkish coffee martini—rich, aromatic, and just the right kick to close out the meal.
Whether you sit inside among the earthy textures or at its outside patio, Sumak delivers a memorable dining experience that feels both refined and relaxed. Sumak is more than just a restaurant, it’s our neighborhood’s passport to the vibrant flavors of Turkey.
